Best overall

Our pick

Non Communiqué DOOGEE S200 Ultra

Why it fits you

Best Value for basic calls and texts, with a huge battery, clear high-refresh-rate display, 5G, and generous storage.
It is especially suitable if long battery life and durability matter more than compact size.
The main downside is its very large, heavy design, while the Motorola is easier to carry and the Ulefone offers even tougher construction.

One thing to consider

Very large and heavy for simple everyday calling.

Why it fits you

Best Overall because it combines a slim everyday design with a smooth display, ample storage, 5G, and capable cameras.
It is the easiest of these three to live with for ordinary calls, messages, browsing, and photos. Its battery is smaller than the rugged alternatives, but it should be more comfortable to carry than either the DOOGEE or Ulefone.

One thing to consider

Battery capacity is modest compared with rugged phones.

Non Communiqué Ulefone Armor 28

Why it fits you

Premium Pick for readers who value extreme durability, very long battery life, and extra hardware features over portability.
Its large memory, 5G connectivity, fast charging, and night-vision camera make it unusually capable for demanding environments. It is more rugged and better equipped than the Motorola, while the DOOGEE is a less expensive alternative with a similarly oversized design.

One thing to consider

Rugged construction makes it much thicker and heavier than a normal phone.
