    Frequently asked questions

Is OLED or QLED better for watching movies in the UK?

OLED usually delivers the deepest blacks and strongest cinematic contrast, making it excellent for dark-room movie nights. QLED or premium LED TVs can be brighter and better suited to rooms with strong daylight.

Do premium TVs over £2,000 need 120Hz and HDMI 2.1 for streaming?

Streaming films and TV shows do not require 120Hz or HDMI 2.1, but these features improve motion handling and future-proof the set. They are especially useful if you also connect a PS5, Xbox Series X or gaming PC.

Which HDR formats should a movie and streaming TV support?

Look for HDR10 and HLG as a baseline, plus Dolby Vision for compatible films and series. HDR10+ can also be valuable because some streaming services and discs use its dynamic metadata.

What peak brightness is best for a TV in a bright UK living room?

A brighter QLED or LED model can make HDR highlights and daytime viewing more impactful in a sunlit room. OLED remains a strong choice, but controlling reflections and direct light is important for the best movie performance.
