    Microsoft Surface Pro

    Why it fits you

    • Best Value for education and study, combining a large high-resolution touchscreen with full Windows productivity software, strong multitasking performance and a laptop-like form factor.
    • It is particularly suitable for research, document work and browser-based learning.
    • The keyboard and power supply are sold separately, so its complete study setup may require additional accessories. Compared with the iPad Pro M5 models, it offers broader desktop software compatibility but is less portable as a tablet.

    Frequently asked questions

Which premium tablet is best for university students in the UK?

The Microsoft Surface Pro is a strong choice for students who need Windows software and a laptop-style setup. The iPad Pro M5 is better suited to those prioritising portability, creative apps and a high-end tablet experience.

Do these tablets support a keyboard and stylus for note-taking?

Yes. Surface Pro supports a detachable Type Cover and Surface Pen, while iPad Pro models work with compatible Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil accessories. Check whether the required accessories are included, as they can cost extra.

Is the iPad Pro nano-texture display worth it for studying?

It can be worthwhile for students who study in bright rooms or near windows because the matte finish reduces reflections. However, it costs more and may not be necessary if you usually work indoors with controlled lighting.

How long do premium tablets last on a student day?

All three options are designed to provide several hours of lectures, browsing, documents and note-taking on a charge. Actual battery life varies with brightness, video calls, demanding apps and mobile connectivity, so heavy users may still want a charger or power bank.
